Contribute your own reviews

CPC Game Reviews has reviewed 2,417 games so far, but there are still hundreds more games that haven’t been reviewed, and I’m always keen for other Amstrad CPC fans to contribute their own reviews to this site.

If there are any games you have played and they haven’t been reviewed on this site, then why not considering writing your own review?

What should I include in my review?

You should include a short description of the background story to the game, if there is one. You should also write your opinion of the graphics and presentation, music and sound effects, and gameplay. You will also need to provide an overall rating for the game from 0 to 10 (no half marks are permitted).

It would also be beneficial if you can include a screenshot with your review. While it isn’t essential, it means that I don’t have to spend a lot of time learning how to play the game and grabbing a screenshot myself. Nearly every Amstrad CPC emulator should have an option to grab screenshots, but please ensure that it isn’t blurred or resized in any way, otherwise I will not use it. You will need to ensure that your emulator settings don't apply any blurring or filters to the screen.

How long should my review be?

Your review should be between 100 and 150 words long. If it’s too short, then I won’t use it; if it’s too long, then I will edit it so that it is around 150 words in length. I also reserve the right to edit reviews to correct grammar and spelling, and obviously, no swearing is permitted.

What sort of games can I review?

CPC Game Reviews is focused exclusively on the Amstrad CPC range of machines, so the game that you are reviewing must be playable on an Amstrad CPC. Most games that were released commercially during the 1980s and early 1990s are eligible for review, with the exception of educational games and compilations.

There are certain genres that are under-represented on this site, because I’m not much of a fan of them. If you are a fan of these genres, then your reviews would be welcomed:

  • Text adventures (also known as interactive fiction)
  • Board games
  • Management, strategy and war games
  • Flight simulators

I also accept reviews of some, but not all, of the more modern releases for the Amstrad CPC. If you want to review a game but you aren’t sure if it will be accepted, please contact me and I can send you a list of games that are eligible for reviewing.

How do I submit my reviews to you?

At the moment, the only way to submit reviews is by e-mail. Please send them to nich <AT> durge <DOT> org.
